What is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common childhood disorders and can continue through adolescence and adulthood. Symptoms include difficulty staying focused and paying attention, difficulty controlling behavior, and hyperactivity (over-activity).

Children who have symptoms of inattention may:

Be easily distracted, miss details, forget things, and frequently switch from one activity to another
Have difficulty focusing on one thing
Become bored with a task after only a few minutes, unless they are doing something enjoyable
Have difficulty focusing attention on organizing and completing a task or learning something new
Have trouble completing or turning in homework assignments, often losing things (e.g., pencils, toys, assignments) needed to complete tasks or activities
Not seem to listen when spoken to
Daydream, become easily confused, and move slowly
Have difficulty processing information as quickly and accurately as others
Struggle to follow instructions.

Children who have symptoms of hyperactivity may:
Fidget and squirm in their seats
Talk nonstop
Dash around, touching or playing with anything and everything in sight
Have trouble sitting still during dinner, school, and story time
Be constantly in motion
Have difficulty doing quiet tasks or activities

Children who have symptoms of impulsivity may:
Be very impatient
Blurt out inappropriate comments, show their emotions without restraint, and act without regard for consequences
Have difficulty waiting for things they want or waiting their turns in games
Often interrupt conversations or others' activities.

What Causes ADHD?

Sugar. The idea that refined sugar causes ADHD or makes symptoms worse is popular, but more research discounts this theory than supports it. In one study, researchers gave children foods containing either sugar or a sugar substitute every other day. The children who received sugar showed no different behavior or learning capabilities than those who received the sugar substitute.8 Another study in which children were given higher than average amounts of sugar or sugar substitutes showed similar results.

What are the side effects of stimulant medications?

The most commonly reported side effects are decreased appetite, sleep problems, anxiety, and irritability. Some children also report mild stomachaches or headaches. Most side effects are minor and disappear over time or if the dosage level is lowered.
Decreased appetite. Be sure your child eats healthy meals. If this side effect does not go away, talk to your child's doctor. Also talk to the doctor if you have concerns about your child's growth or weight gain while he or she is taking this medication.

Sleep problems. If a child cannot fall asleep, the doctor may prescribe a lower dose of the medication or a shorter-acting form. The doctor might also suggest giving the medication earlier in the day, or stopping the afternoon or evening dose. Adding a prescription for a low dose of an antidepressant or a blood pressure medication called clonidine sometimes helps with sleep problems. What conditions can coexist with ADHD?

A learning disability. A child in preschool with a learning disability may have difficulty understanding certain sounds or words or have problems expressing himself or herself in words. A school-aged child may struggle with reading, spelling, writing, and math.

Oppositional defiant disorder. Kids with this condition, in which a child is overly stubborn or rebellious, often argue with adults and refuse to obey rules.

Conduct disorder. This condition includes behaviors in which the child may lie, steal, fight, or bully others. He or she may destroy property, break into homes, or carry or use weapons. These children or teens are also at a higher risk of using illegal substances. Kids with conduct disorder are at risk of getting into trouble at school or with the police.

Anxiety and depression. Treating ADHD may help to decrease anxiety or some forms of depression.

The H1N1 virus continues its spread in Singapore.

The Health Ministry confirmed 95 new cases on Thursday, raising the total infected to 315.

About half of the new cases have been investigated and they comprise 25 local infections and 22 imported ones.

Of the 25 new local infections, 10 are Butter Factory nightspot patrons and staff, four are from the Maju Camp cluster and two caught the virus from close contact with imported cases.

Nine are linked to a new Republic Polytechnic cluster, which had three previous cases.

The remaining 48 new cases are still being investigated.

Meanwhile, a trainee working in MediaCorp who contracted the H1N1 virus has been cleared and discharged from hospital.

The Health Ministry says those who develop flu symptoms and have a recent travel history to affect countries should call 993 for an ambulance and should avoid taking public transport.

Those who have symptoms but no travel history should put on a mask, visit a general practitioner and avoid crowded areas.

School is getting boring day after day ,

Reached school at 7am , went to canteen slept . After that Mr yeo ask me wake up & report to class .

Math - Skip class , meet Hockping & Ant . Turn the whole fucking school upside down to find Youhong .. cause he got cig . He never come school , slacked around with Shernne , Grace & one more girl . After that , ie give one stupid idea to Hockping ' Climb out of school then go opp BishanPark buy cig lur ' He said steady , we run out lor , Ant dunwant go .. So he hang around there . Reached the place , bought the cig .. smoke then climbed in school .

EBS ( 2hour ) - Go blog hopped around , then sleep again .

RECESS - Went 4th floor , Smoked with Ant & Hockping ..

Long time since i last post ..

Today woke up at about 6.35 am . call darling hp , never pick up .. call the 2nd line also never pick up .. in the end , call the house also never pick up .. got worried and call matt to call sheryl to ask whenther jocelyn got come anot .. in the end , she was at the classroom ... KNS !

1 st paper was math paper 2 , i hate math ! number can make me go crazy !
paper was about 1 hours and 30 min . do for about 5 min and slept for 1 hour and 25 min .. Cool right !?

After that was recess , never to post as i was quite ' goggy ' . just woke up marhs .

Come back to class , saw mr tan was taking us . quite happy cuz its been a year since he last take us =D Talk about alot of that '' stuff '' .
Then start paper , the paper was CPA paper 1 , written paper . paper was about 1 hours , do for about15 min and chat wif mr tan for 45 min .
think no class got such a good treatment xP

After that , when to com lab to take the next exam . CPA paper 2 . waited for mr wong for 15 min .. while waiting for mr wong , the mad guy was doing another mad guy '' walking '' . LoL !

Soon after , mr wong came . was the first to finish the paper . paper was about 1 hours 15 min and took 40 min to complet .
1st to leave the room too !

After that , went to meet darling , mark , ben , suching .

met at cat den's . heat was too hot and went to mac;s and get an sundae .

Went to KFC after that , darling and suching went down to get bubble tea . Than met shan at mac . then went to shan's house to have some '' fun '' .

After awhile , went dinner and then lirbrary to di siao the 'fat guy ' but he not there .

Then went back to shan 's house to get laptop and bag .

Send darling to bus-stop and the End !

Today was very boring , wake up at 3 plus hen the meoww called me wake up and slack wif mark , ben and the rest ( no jocelyn ) Dx
